THIS IS A REFERENCE BOOK, so it doesn’t make much sense to talk about plot, characters, style, and the other elements of literature.
The relevant questions: Is it thorough? Is it accurate? Is it organized well?
The Colorado Book Guide scores well on all counts. It covers just about anything you can think of, in Colorado, that relates to books: publishers and bookstores, of course, but also fairs, binderies, writers’ groups, libraries, publications.
It’s so thorough that even our tiny Colorado Central is listed, and as for organization, I quickly found anything I was looking for, be it an obscure local publisher or a federal agency’s reference library.
So, if you deal with books in Colorado at any level beyond picking up a paperback every so often, you need this book. It should be in every Colorado library’s reference section, and I’ve found it so useful in our pursuits here that it now sits between the local phone book and the latest World Almanac on my “close at hand” reference shelf.
