The Goemmer Farm Implement Dealership Building

By Kenneth Jessen A beautiful stone building sits in the town of La Veta at the corner of Oak and Field Streets, not far from the town center. Looking more like something found in rural Pennsylvania, it was constructed in 1895 by father and son contractors, the Colemans. It was built for blacksmith John Goemmer and housed his farm implement dealership. On the lower level, iron rings embedded in the stone walls indicate that this could have been where Goemmer tied his large draft horses between jobs.
