One of the biggest news stories in Central Colorado this past month was a rockslide that occurred on Valentine’s Day on U.S. Hwy. 50 between Cotopaxi and Coaldale at mile post 244. It closed the highway to traffic in both directions until all the debris was removed late Sunday, Feb. 20. Several of the boulders weighed as much as 60 tons each according to the Colorado Department of Transporation.
