Adams State’s new board is in place, and ready to work. Its members include:
— Vickie Ford, 71, Center. She’s an ASC alum, president and CFO for Sunny Valley Farms Inc., and is a member of the Colorado Agricultural Commission. She will receive ASC’s Outstanding Alumnus Award in October.
— LeRoy Salazar, Manassa. He is a rancher, engineer and management consultant, and former president and CEO of Agro Engineering. He’s also vice president of the Hope for Children Foundation.
— Timothy Walters, 73, Alamosa. Walters is an ASC alumnus and president of Walters and Associates, the largest real estate appraisal firm in southern Colorado. He is a member of the San Luis Valley Board of Realtors and the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association. He has also served as president of the ASC athletic boosters and last year received the college’s Billy Adams Award.
— Dr. Charles Scoggin, Boulder. Scoggin is chairman, president and CEO of Sagemed Inc. He was a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado and head of the Adult Human Genetics Section of the University of Colorado. He is vice chairman of the Center of the American West.
— Mark Cavanaugh, Denver. He is senior policy analyst for Bighorn Center for Public Policy and was a budget and policy analyst for the Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting.
— Kathleen Eck, Vail. Eck is a private practice attorney and was an associate general counsel of health and safety for Lockheed Martin Corporation. She is on the board of trustees for the Women’s Foundation of Colorado and the board of directors for Millennium Bank.
— Juan Daniel Rodriguez, Colorado Springs. He is an attorney with Littler Mendelson P.C. He was director of the Colorado Springs Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and now serves as director for Pikes Peak Hospice and is a member of Governor Owens’ Hispanic Coalition.
— Peggy Lamm, Superior. Lamm is chairman of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. A former state representative, she is a faculty member in the Bighorn Center’s leadership development program.
— Meyer Saltzman, Denver. Saltzman is a CPA who has worked on non-profit boards for 45 years.
— Dr. Frank Novotny, professor of chemistry, was elected the faculty trustee for the board.
“ASC’s new Board of Trustees exhibits a wonderful blend of higher education experience and knowledge of the Valley,” says ASC’s Halgren. “Through their careers, these individuals have acquired experience with the Colorado political process, expertise in fund raising, and, above all, a commitment to higher education.”
