Salida’s historic downtown is considered to be the largest in Colorado. Many buildings are already on the National or State registers of historic places. Here is one which may be eligible for this prestigious award. Parlin Terrace, a duplex at 120-122 North C, was built around 1909-1910 for multiple dwellings.
The Parlins retired in Salida and were considered Colorado pioneers. The structure displays historic physical integrity and is an example of Late Victorian duplex housing type. It features a flat roof, decorative entablature, brick walls, a stone foundation and projecting porches. It is notable because of its level of ornamentation. Today, the owner combines residential and commercial uses. – by Leslie Walker of Salida Realty and the Historic Preservation Commission, who is fascinated with historic downtown buildings.
