Errata – May 2001 – Colorado Central Magazine
In the April edition, a couple of errors crept into the articles about water conservancy districts. On page 18, we said there were “45 of them in Colorado at last count.”
Various sources listed 45 to 51; if you take the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (to which all districts must file annual reports) as the authority, then there are 50 of them.
And on page 27, the fraction got lost along the way and emerged as two boxes separated by a slash. It should have read that UAWCD sells augmentation permits at “$2,000 for 1/10 of an acre-foot.”
When it comes to errors, we like to quote Jim Little, publisher of the Wet Mountain Tribune in Westcliffe: “They’re like weeds in a garden. No matter how hard you try to eliminate them, some always remain.”
