Confirmed sighting of a mountain unicyclist
Editors:
I read with interest your short feature on mountain unicycles in the December 2004 issue. I instantly remembered the first time I came across one in its habitat. My wife and I were in Colorado Springs for a get-together with friends and family when we stole away for an afternoon in Fox Run Park, which is tucked into the Black Forest north of the city.
It was a perfect fall day in early October, and we were enjoying the serenity of the park’s trails, ponds, and streams, when around a bend in the trail came the strange sight of a man struggling up the steep gravel slope on just one wheel.
I was so stunned that all I could do was watch him go by, but after he did so I got out my digital camera as fast as possible and tried to catch a shot of him before he disappeared beyond another bend in the trail. I thought that if I couldn’t get a picture of the man on his steed that our relatives would give the story about as much credit as a Sasquatch sighting.
I have attached the picture so you can judge for yourself the veracity of my story.
