Back to the planning board
Salida’s proposed comprehensive master plan (the one reviewed in the July Colorado Central) was turned down by the planning commission at a July 8 hearing.
Although there were several speaking in support, many audience members questioned the need for any plan, and others criticized specific provisions.
And so, the planning commission voted to send the plan back to the volunteer planning group, which had worked with the consultants, with instructions to come up with something new.
Speaking on KVRH radio after the hearing, Salida Mayor Nancy Sanger said there was “negative feedback,” and that she was worried “that there are some agendas out there that perhaps aren’t entirely community-oriented.”
She remained optimistic, though — “When, not if … we get a plan in place.”
