Brynn Ronning paints with oils and finds home in the town of Buena Vista, Colorado. As a seven-year resident, Brynn has immersed herself in Jailhouse Arts, a community project of artists that collectively and creatively inhabit the town’s former jailhouse. Brynn has acted as gallery and events coordinator for the Jailhouse, encouraging the hands of local artists to turn this historical, stone-walled building into a space for the arts. The collective’s focus has been to showcase local talent, offer studio space, and develop workshops and classes. Brynn is grateful for the unfolding of both intentional and spontaneous acts of art to occur at the Jailhouse from a community of collaborators.
Brynn works with imagery that can connect the day-to-day with the ethereal. These images embody a dreamlike quality while being grounded and accessible. The paintings capture familiar places and landscapes, imbued with spirit and uncovering the unseen layers that span the depths of the earth to the farthest cosmos. Repurposing found materials that are rich with their own textures and histories are always an important part of the story in her work. Brynn’s art has always celebrated the beauty of being present, and she shares the joy in this through all facets of her life.

Brynn’s creative work extends well beyond the town of Buena Vista. Through her travels and previous time living in Chicago, New Orleans and across Colorado, she has collected an immense network of friends, cocreators and loyal supporters. Through this extended family, Brynn has been invited to share her work around the country, and she in turn has reached out with an invitation to artists from afar to share their talent and creations at Jailhouse Arts and The Asian Palate, both being venues for music, storytelling and community celebration.
Her artistic spirit feels greatly supported and very much at home in the mountains.
